Ikeda's youthful years traced through his diary. The years between 1949 and 1960 were for Daisaku Ikeda a period of growth and formation alongside his master: during that period the foundations were laid for the subsequent developments of the kosen rufu movement in the world, which took off after Ikeda's appointment as the third president of the Soka Gakkai.
In the pages of the Youth Diary we read a firsthand account of those particularly significant years. We come into contact with a young man full of hopes and ideals, in search of the true meaning to be attached to his existence. We see him struggling with the many problems of daily activities and desire to overcome his own limitations and weaknesses. This closeness with the author allows each person to measure himself against the choices to be made in his own life and to develop a more sincere awareness of his own mission.
